A Nashville Small Business Website Checklist

Hardly any of this is about looks. It is whether a stranger can tell that you stop at how far outside the inner loop you go, when a person answers, and what it runs.

Say how far outside the loop you go

Serving Nashville means nothing on its own. Davidson County alone runs past five hundred square miles, and somebody in Antioch has no idea whether a crew photographed in the Gulch will drive out.

Write the line the way you dispatch it. Inside I-440. Donelson and Antioch on scheduled days. Williamson County by quote. It reads as refusing work and mostly it removes calls you would have declined.

Say what you know about the overlays

Large parts of East Nashville, Germantown, and other older neighborhoods sit under conservation or historic overlays, and what you can change on the outside of a house is genuinely restricted.

If you work inside them, say what needs approval, what usually gets refused, and how long it adds. That paragraph closes jobs, because almost nobody bothers to write it.

Talk about what is under the topsoil

Limestone sits close to the surface across much of this county, and sinkholes and rock are a real problem for footings, pools, trenching, and drainage.

If rock changes your pricing, explain it once on the page. People accept a higher number far more readily when they understand what they are paying for.

Say how you handle a hillside lot

A great deal of the newer infill went up on slopes, and access, retaining walls, and drainage are the whole job rather than a detail.

Trades that say plainly how they get materials onto a steep lot get calls from people who have already been turned down twice.

Say what happens after a storm line

One March system can put trees across streets, take roofs off, and leave whole blocks without power. This county has been through it repeatedly.

State the response plainly. Same-day tarping. Tree work inside forty-eight hours. Vagueness in that window loses the job to whoever was specific.

Put the licence number in the footer

Tennessee licenses contractors through the state board, and with this much building going on, customers here check more than most.

Footer of every page rather than an about page nobody opens. It is the cheapest way to separate a real framing and remodel crew from the crew already framing two doors down.

Photograph houses that look like theirs

A stock kitchen says nothing. A retaining wall and drainage job on a sloping East Nashville lot, with the neighbouring tall-skinny in shot, tells a homeowner you have done their exact job.

Phone photographs are fine. Work around a March storm line rather than against it, and keep the frames that show hillside retaining walls finished rather than halfway apart.

Put a figure next to each service

Leaving the price off reads as expensive, and in this market people already assume the worst. A floor, a range, or a flat consultation fee gives somebody enough to act on.

Publish a band and the phone rings less and converts more, because whoever calls about a hillside retaining wall has already accepted roughly what it costs.

Keep the listing and the site telling one story

Hours, coverage, categories, and phone number have to agree between the map listing and the site. Where they conflict, somebody in East Nashville believes the listing.

Check it after storm weeks and during the big downtown events, when getting to your shop is nothing like normal.
